Home Swap     =      Family Fun
Travel and homeowner's insurance?  Will I be covered under my homeowner's
policy if something happens during an exchange?

Travel insurance is not required, although some families prefer to obtain it, especially when traveling abroad.
There are many companies that offer travel insurance,  it is best to check with your current insurance company
for a referal.
Our personal policy covers anything that happens on our property as long as we are "renting" the home out. The
definition of "renting" was the exchange of money for use of the property.  I was told by our policy manager that
the family staying during an exchange would be no different than a house guest staying in our home.
I also know from friends that are in law enforcement that they think by exchanging homes, allows our home to
be more secure than a vacant home for a week or longer.
As always, you much check with your individual insurance provider to see what is and not covered on your policy.
